Alcovy girls beat Eastside and Newton

Alcovy took on two rivals this weekend and defeated both. After beating Eastside on the road Friday night, Alcovy welcomed Newton Saturday evening, winning 40-25. The Alcovy Tigers defeated the visiting Mustangs of Morrow high, 30-13 at Homer Sharp Stadium Thursday night.

Alcovy softball suffers first region loss

Alcovy slipped from atop the Region 2-AAAAAA standings Monday as it was shutout by Luella 2-0 on its home field. Both teams were unbeaten in region play heading in, and Luella (10-9-1, 4-0) picked up its fourth straight win, while snapping a three game streak for the Tigers (20-4-1, 4-1). Alcovy had won 11 of 12 coming in, but couldn't get its bats going against the Lions.
