An Alzheimer patient's self-professed caregiver was arrested March 14 after Covington police officers reportedly found her to be intoxicated while driving - with her patient.

Drunk driver tosses beer out of car while chased
Two people were arrested trying to avoid deputies after catching their attention for lack of seatbelts early Saturday morning. Deputies from the NCSO were on patrol when they noticed a blue Ford Thunderbird at the stop sign at Dixie Road. The deputies noticed the driver wasn't wearing his seatbelt and turned around to stop the vehicle but the driver was already gone.

Blaze set outside Newton gas station
A pile of men's clothing set on fire in front of a gas pump was the cause of a blaze early Monday morning at a Chevron off of Ga. Highway 81. Newton County Fire officials are hoping that someone noticed the person responsible. Firefighters were able to contain the fire to one gas pump where the fire melted the plastic surrounding the pump and a garbage can before being extinguished.
