On the grounds of Burge Plantation

Like a fairy tale cottage, the original Burge House sits surrounded by forest. Across the street from its original location, a bigger home has been erected and stands proudly on the land that has bore the Burge name since the 1830s. The original house, now a private residence, turned 200-years-old this November, celebrating a monumental anniversary in Newton County.

Social Circle body identified

Authorities have identified the person found dead in just outside of Social Circle Sunday afternoon as Robert Andrew "Drew" Nichols. His death has been ruled a homicide and four men – Michael Scott West, Chad Ashley Allen, Robert Vincent Lambert and Sam Dumas Dawkins – have been arrested and charged with his murder.

Forever family
