Pastor travels to Kenya to teach

Starrsville United Methodist Church Pastor Susan Taylor, the church's first female pastor, recently packed her bags and joined a team of eight people to travel to Nairobi, Kenya, and help train a group of Kenyan pastors. Almost 100 miles away from the capitol, Taylor and her team reached Nakuru where the United Methodist training actually took place.

Introducing the new area code

The newest set of phone numbers about to crop up using the new metro Atlanta 470 area code will seem strange at first, but for residents in the greater Atlanta area setting up a brand new phone number, they will only have to accept that as the other area codes, 770, 678, and 404 are no longer available.

While the area code 470 first appeared to me on a personal level this weekend, 470 is actually not so new, having been first activated in 2010.

Coming to America

Most people, when they first meet me, automatically assume that I was born and raised here in America because I do not speak with an accent - except for a slight Southern one. I also pause when someone asks me where I am from, not knowing if they're inquiring about my origins or my nationality. So then, I usually break out into the Cliff Notes' summary of where I was born and how I came to Atlanta. Then the usual response in return is, "Oh. I was just wondering if you're from Georgia. That's all..."

Adirondack shelters for rent in Conyers

Rockdale County parks and recreations offers great amenities and with the recent construction of the South Rockdale Community Park of East Fairview and soon to be completed Lorraine Trailhead, there's more reason to explore the new trails and get a little closer to nature.

The South Rockdale Park, which officially opened last September, features three Adirondack shelters that are available for rental year round.
