Deck the tree
The Newton County Board of Education's Christmas tree looks a little brighter after students came over Thursday morning to decorate. Most charity races don't include a massive mud pit, military-inspired obstacles, live music and appetizing food, but that's what runners and spectators can expect Sunday during the National Mud and Obstacles Series at the Georgia International Horse Park in Conyers this Sunday.
2012 Newton County Mutt Show
Dozens of puppies and dogs came out Saturday morning to strut their stuff for the Humane Society's annual Newton County Mutt Show fundraiser. The show, hosted on the Covington square, began at 10 a.m. and featured five different categories: Face Only a Mother Can Love, Most Beautiful, Most Handsome, Best Dressed, and Best Trick. First, second, and third place ribbons were awarded in each category.
Crime: Traffic stop leads to cocaine find
