All God’s critters big and small

As a city-bred person, I always thought that life in the country would be idyllic: scenic, slow paced, clean air, healthy living, strong sense of community and more. Well, much of this is true; however, what I didn't know anything about was critters! We have critters here that are like an unending plague. We can control them - but rarely, if ever, get rid of them.

NEWS FROM “AROUND THE WELL” IN SOCIAL CIRCLE

Last Friday evening, my husband, Jim, and I attended the annual "Evening with the Stars" dinner, which is a major fund raising event sponsored by the Walton County Boys & Girls Clubs of North Central Georgia. The City of Social Circle and The Home Depot were both honored as this year's "shining stars."

Burgess: Boys and Girls Club is special

Of the many groups and activities that abound in Social Circle, the Quilting Belles is a real standout. The organization is laid back in the sense that it operates behind the scenes without fanfare or a recognized public persona. It is purposeful in that it seeks to preserve a skill that could well become obsolete in today's fast paced, throw-away society.
