Investigators suspect a fire that consumed a single family mobile home in the northern tip of the county Wednesday morning was intentionally set, according to the Newton County Fire Department. When firefighters arrived at 547 Ellington Road around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday after receiving a call from a passer-by, the structure was already fully engulfed in flames, said NCFD Deputy Chief Tim Smith.
A train derailed in Social Circle Monday evening after a section of rail broke off, according to the Social Circle Department of Public Safety.
