Green Getaway

Friday night is the third annual Green Getaway. The fundraising event for Keep Covington/Newton Beautiful's educational and beautification programs is always a blast.

This year Mark Eskew will be back as Elvis. The food and auction items are always amazing.

If you can't make it to the Green Getaway this year, then there are still plenty opportunities for you to donate or volunteer.

On Nov. 15, America Recycles Day, hundreds of local students will compete in a Trash to Treasure Art Contest. Schools will likely need items that are usually thrown away to be donated and may even need some parent volunteers for the projects.

After Christmas Home Depot and all the neighborhood recycling centers will be taking Christmas trees in the Bring One for the Chipper Event. Trees will be turned into mulch.
