Take me home: The pet of the week is a female, gilt pot-bellied pig. It is available now for adoption. Also available for adoption are two Dachshund/Jack Russell mix puppies, about 7 weeks old; a male Chihuahua, adult, cream colored; a female, black and tan Dachshund, about 4-years-old; a brown, neutered male terrier mix, 5-years-old. ask for Samson; a female, redtick, bird dog mix puppy, about 2 to 3-months-old, a red with white, male miniature Pinscher mix, about 4-months-old; a brown and gray, female Chow mix, about 3-months-old; a female, brown Whippet mix, about 2-years-old, ask for Reba; a neutered male, tri-colored Beagle, about 3-years-old; a male, chocolate/tan/white Beagle, about 3-months-old. The shelter has an assortment of adult cats. Please take advantage of several low-cost spay/neuter clinics available in the area. Call for details. Animal Control with the help of the Humane Society of Newton County is offering dog shelters to those that cannot afford to provide their pet proper shelter.
