James F. Wyatt

James F. Wyatt, of Covington, died peacefully at his home, Sunday, August 23, 2009, at the age of 87. Born in Jasper Co. to the late Jimmie Dodge Wyatt and Berta Lee Bradley Wyatt, he had been a resident of the Almon community for 39 years. Mr. Wyatt was an Army veteran of WWII, serving in the Pacific Theatre and was awarded the Philippine Liberation Service Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal with one Bronze Star as well as a WWII Victory Medal. He retired from Blalock Machinery in 1990 after 32 years of service and enjoyed doing yard work, sharing vegetables with his neighbors that he grew in his garden and dearly loved his grandchildren and great-grandchild. Mr. Wyatt is preceded in death by his wife Mary Sue Shaw Wyatt. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Darlene and Greg Holler of Covington; son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Jennifer Shaw of Brunswick; grandchildren, Allen White, Alan Bradley, Dustin Shaw, Benjamin Shaw, Tommy Shaw, Jennifer Ann Shaw, Woody Shaw; great-grandson, Justice White; sisters, Ann Kinard of Mansfield, Mary Jo Childers of Oxford, Sara Campbell of Campton, Hannah Edwards of Covington; sisters-in-law, Arie Ann Shaw of Covington, Joan Wyatt of Covington; several nieces and nephews. A graveside service for Mr. Wyatt will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 11:00 AM at Lawnwood Memorial Park Memory Chapel Mausoleum, with Mr. Jimmy Herring officiating. The family will receive friends at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Rd. on Tuesday, August 25, from 6-8 PM.
