Let the board handle it

We are glad to finally see the Nelson Heights Community Center finally is to become a reality.

County Attorney James Griffin has suggested that a new director be a county employee; we disagree with this suggestion.

This center is set up with an independent board of directors, similar to the successful Washington Street Community Center.

It is right that the county use additional monies to seed the start up of this program.

The job of the board of directors is to see that this seed money is used to find an experienced director who will see that good programs are run and that fundraising is successful enough to pay for staff, programs and future upkeep.
