Pablo Fernando Maldonado and Katria Luche McClain went before Superior Court Judge Horace J. Johnson Jr. earlier this week to request bond. Both have been incarcerated since their arrest in June.

Maldonado, age 22, has been charged with murder, aggravated assault, aggravated battery, armed robbery, concealing a death, false imprisonment, theft by taking and forgery and allegedly worked for Clements in his landscaping business. The Kirkland Road duplex where Maldonado lived was looked at as a possible crime scene earlier in the investigation.

McClain, who is a juvenile at 16-years-old, has been charged as an adult in the case and is accused of felony murder and conspiracy to commit murder. She has been housed at the state's juvenile detention center in Sandersville and will remain there until she turns 17 in December, at which time she will be transferred to the Newton County Detention Center.

According to investigators, Maldonado, McClain and two others, 17-year-old Christian Perion Caldwell and 18-year-old Brittany Michelle Beasley, are responsible for the death of 53-year-old Clements, whose body was found wrapped in some sort of material, floating in Snapping Shoals Creek. All have been charged with murder.
