Two people were arrested early Monday morning after a man called 911, allegedly telling the operator he had stabbed his wife.

When deputies from the Newton County Sheriff's Office arrived at the home, they reportedly found a man exiting the residence and walking toward the street. When asked, he allegedly admitted he was the person who had called 911. When asked what happened the man, identified as 31-year-old Regginal W. Julien, reportedly told deputies that he had "told the lady on the phone what happened."

Regginal reportedly told deputies that he stabbed his wife with a knife, at which time he was handcuffed and placed under arrest. Once read his Miranda Warning, the deputies asked Regginal if he wanted to answer their questions and he allegedly said that he did not.

As deputies were securing him in the patrol car a woman, later identified as 37-year-old Elanda Fae Julien, reportedly came out of the residence. Deputies asked Elanda if she was all right and she allegedly said that she was. She reportedly told them that she and Regginal had gotten into an argument. Deputies noticed a large swollen area to the left side of Elanda's face and lower jar as well as a large stain of what appeared to be fresh blood on the left side of her shirt around a hole in the material.

EMS was called to the scene and Elanda allegedly refused medical care. Deputies continued to question her about the night's events and she reportedly said that she and Regginal went to eat at a Mexican restaurant on Salem Road. Both consumed numerous alcoholic beverages, according to Elanda's statement to deputies. She allegedly said she initiated an argument with her husband because "she thought some gay men were trying to flirt with her husband."

She reportedly told deputies that she left the restaurant and returned to their home where she began chopping onions. According to reports, Elanda told deputies that she and Regginal got into another verbal altercation and she threatened to stab him with a butcher knife.

Elanda reportedly told deputies that she and Regginal struggled with the knife and she was cut on the side. She allegedly told deputies that she punched her husband in the back of the head with her fist after the second argument began.

Reports indicate Elanda reeked of alcohol and although she was "calm and cooperative" she would often "ramble with her statements to the point where she would become confused."

Both husband and wife were transported to the Newton County Detention Center where Regginal was charged with aggravated assault and cruelty to children in the second degree. Medical staff at the jail requested that Elanda be transported to Newton Medical Center to receive treatment for her injuries prior to being booked into the jail.

The Department of Family and Children Services were advised of the situation since the couple's juvenile children reportedly witnessed the altercation.
