Landfills closed for holidays, first day of school

Litter everywhere: As shown in this photo, taken last March, trash piles up in front of the landfills when local residents continue to drop rubbish off at the gates on days where the landfill and recycling centers are closed. People caught dumping...

In order to balance the county budget, Newton County offices, including the Newton County Landfill and all Newton County Neighborhood Recycling Centers will be closed on the holidays listed below. To help maintain cleanliness and to avoid penalties, residents should not leave trash at Landfill or Recycling Center gates. People who leave trash at gates will be fined. This policy is strictly enforced.
