NFB sponsors Crimestoppers program for local nursing home

Newton Federal Bank announced today that it will provide a substantial investment to the Senior Housing Crime Prevention Foundation (SHCPF) for a full sponsorship that will enable the Covington Manor Nursing Home to participate in the nationally acclaimed Senior Crimestoppers Program.

The Senior Crimestoppers charter presentation will be held at 2 p.m. May 18 at Covington Manor Nursing Home located at 4148 Carroll Street in Covington. Covington Manor personnel will provide a tour of the facilities and Newton Federal Bank is expected to present Covington Manor with a charter membership plaque.

"Safety and security for our seniors are big issues nationwide. We are thrilled to be a part of this effort which will assist Covington Manor Nursing Home in continuing to provide a safe environment for their residents and staff," said George Lazenby, president and chief executive officer of Newton Federal Bank, "Newton Federal Bank remains committed to serving the needs of people in this wonderful community of ours. Participation in this program is yet another way that we can demonstrate this level of commitment."

Newton Federal Bank’s sponsorship will allow Covington Manor Nursing Home and its residents to become charter members in the Senior Crimestoppers Program.

In addition to providing lock boxes for the residents, the program will also provide Covington Manor with a proven system for management, residents and their families to have access to an anonymous tip-reporting hotline and cash rewards for information that helps a facility solve or prevent a crime.

As part of Newton Federal Bank’s sponsorship, the Covington Manor Nursing Home residents will also receive the first in a series of "The Time of Your Life" videos. Each year for five years the Covington Manor Nursing Home will receive a new nostalgic video, which will take residents back from the 1920’s through the 1950’s for the residents’ enjoyment.

"One of the best parts of the sponsorship is the ‘Wish Come True’ program," Lazenby added Covington Manor Nursing Home will receive their first Wish Come True check this year courtesy of the bank. Each year we will make a contribution through the facility to fulfill a wish or need for one or more of the residents.

"We are excited and proud to be part of this important initiative that will mean so much to the residents of Covington Manor Nursing Home."
