Vera Weaver Fletcher

Mrs. Vera Weaver Fletcher died April 21 in Walton County. The daughter of the late John Henry and Nina Weaver, she was born in 1934 in Newton County. She was raised and educated in Newton County, graduating from Washington Street High School in 1954. Mrs. Fletcher joined Early Hope Baptist Church where she served on the Usher Board and Mother Board and was president of the Program Committee. She married Mr. Eugene Fletcher in 1957. They had two sons whom she adored. Combining an impeccable work ethic with intelligence and hard work, Mrs. Fletcher was a valued employee of Hercules Inc., Bibb Manufacturing and Golden State Foods. She was an excellent homemaker who loved to cook and feed people. She dedicated her life to taking care of her sons and nephew Johnny Lee Weaver and the Nelson Heights Community. She enjoyed being a member of the Charmette Social Club.
Surviving are sons Laven Fletcher and Sandra, Ro9nnie Fletcher and Debra, grandchildren Shemika Fletcher-Williams "Little Larry" Cooper, Cominique Stanley; five great-grandchildren; sisters Ruth heard, Mae I. Sims, Christine (Johnny Jr.) Blackshear; brother Junior Robinson; a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and dear friends.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. April 26 at Early Hope Baptist Church with the Rev. Kenneth Williams and the Rev. D.B. Johnson Sr presiding. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
