New Heritage Center and Museum to open

The new Social Circle Heritage Center and Museum holds its grand opening today, April 26, from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. at the Social Circle Visitor’s Center located on East Hightower Trail, across from the former City Hall.

The museum will feature displays about the original native inhabitants of the area, early settlers, the Civil War, local garden clubs, Social Circle schools, the Hester house, which now houses the City Hall, Gibbs pond, the Social Circle Theater and artifacts from the cotton mill, among other topics, Organizer Nancy Posner said. The center is  sponsored by the Social Circle Better Hometown Program. Visitors are welcome to bring artifacts and donations for the center’s displays. For more information call (770) 464-1866.
