Good shepherds

The citizens of Newton County never cease to amaze us.

We have done editorials in the past encouraging people and groups to do what they can do during these economic time to help their neighbors.

One such group is the parishioners of Church of the Good Shepherd Episcopal, located here in Covington.
During the months of February and March, church members put together 508 sack lunches for the residents in the neighborhoods surrounding Trailblazer Park on Clark Street.

The next sack lunch from the church group is planned for April 25 at the park. In the mean time, because of the Good Shepherd's folks' good work, the members of the Covington First United Methodist Church plan to distribute sack lunches on Saturday, April 18.

If you would like to support any of these churches' good works contact Gil Gainer at First United Methodist, Father Tim Graham at the Good Shepherd or call Tom Rea (770) 786-3278.

We thank the folks at Good Shepherd and First United Methodist for these kind acts.

We know that other churches and organizations are helping their neighbors also - let us know because we would like to publicly thank you.

When the chips are down, the pure goodness of people always shines through - thank goodness.
