Three people were arrested Thursday morning after Newton County’s Special Investigation Unit and the Porterdale Police Department raided a home on Mulberry Street following complaints from concerned citizens.

According to SIU Lt. Phillip Bradford, the search warrant served on the home followed a short-term investigation in which undercover agents reportedly made several purchases of “ice” – a more stronger, cooked version of methamphetamine – from 42-year-old Karen Daniels Knight. The warrant was served late Thursday morning by SIU, roughly five PPD officers and their K-9 officer Beau, a drug dog.

Knight’s brother Don Ansley Daniels, who also reportedly lives at the home, was arrested as well after law enforcement agents allegedly found meth in his bedroom. Another man, Dwayne Levi Randolf, 28, was also arrested because he reportedly was in possession of meth and pill – a schedule I narcotic. More meth and some scales were reportedly found inside Knight’s nightstand as well.

“The Porterdale officers were excited to do something like this for their community,” said Bradford. “And they definitely gave 100 percent. Having the drug dog there was a big help too.”

Knight was charged with possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and both Daniels and Randolf were charged with possession.
