Lions Magical Radio Hour

Social Circle Lion’s Club will hold its annual musical gala at the Social Circle Theater Saturday, Feb. 28, 4 p.m. - 6:30 p.m., as part of its 60th anniversary celebrations. This year’s show, like last, will be a Radio Show format, with music provided from the early to mid 1900s and local actors and singers who perform at the theater throughout the year. Entertainment will include a magician at 4 p.m. and then proceed with the Radio Show at 5 p.m. Raffles will be mixed into the show. The show will include movie and show tunes, croony classics, some bluegrass pickin’, a local comedian, gospel songs, and even some good old Irish tunes.

The program is a gift to the community with proceeds coming from donations at the door, along with raffle tickets for $1, and for those interested, a pork or chicken barbeque plate for $6. Desert and drinks can be purchased through concessions at the theater. This fundraising project benefits local citizens.

For many years, the Social Circle Lion’s Club sponsored a pancake supper followed by a concert of local church choirs for this celebration. Last year the festivities changed mostly because of declining attendance. Stroll with the Social Circle Lion’s Club down memory lane and have a great afternoon of songs from the past, laughter, prizes, and a fine meal.
