The Covington News and the Georgia Press Association presented soon-to-be Alcovy High School graduate Hunter Terrell with a general scholarship Tuesday.

Terrell, who interned at The News, was one of seven Georgia students given scholarships by the GPA and four to receive a general scholarship from the Georgia Press Educational Foundation.

Terrell will be attending Valdosta State University in the fall.

Other recipients of a Georgia Press Educational Foundation general scholarship are Cary Ann Liner of Fortson, Nathan Harris of Alpharetta and Lindsey Conway of Alpharetta.

Kennington Smith of the University of Georgia will receive the Morris Newspaper Corporation Honor Scholarship of $2,000. The honor scholarship was established in 1978 by Charles H. Morris of Morris Multimedia, owner of The News.

Jordan Hill of VSU will receive the Durwood McAlister Honor Scholarship of $2,000 and David Schick of UGA will receive the William C. Rogers Honor Scholarship of $2,000.
