No gazebo for now

The city council this week put a stake through the grand idea of a Gazebo being built on the town square.

It is good to think out of the box to improve the square — the mayor’s idea was not bad — but the bottom line is this: By our own polls and conversations with a great deal of people, a majority of folks did not want to add a gazebo to the square either because of the cost or aesthetics of it.

The mayor made a valiant effort to have the gazebo built but a majority of council listened to what their constituents said and voted no.

This action is a welcome change that is listening to what their constituents wanted and not making decisions based on what the council members might have wanted.

We do hope that council will continue to look at positive ways to improve the aesthetics and the usefulness of our town square.
