An important primary election is coming up on May 20.

Traditionally this off-year from the presidential race elections tend to produce low turnouts.

We hope you will buck that trend in Newton County this year.

It is each voter’s obligation to know what each candidate stands for and to make an informed decision on if that candidate is the right one to represent your beliefs, and if they would be an asset to you as a representative of your community.

Both the Republicans and Democrats are having rallies in the next two weeks, we urge you to take the time to attend one or the other or both.

It irks us that many of our current state and federal elected officials rarely take the time to visit Newton County. And if they do, they rarely take the time to even take their hats off.

One of the greatest freedoms we have is the free ability to vote.

Please take a few minutes on May 20, or even now, at the Newton County Administration Building, to vote. It’s your privilege and your obligation.
