Officers force man to the ground

After assisting with a locked vehicle Tuesday, Covington Police officers noticed the car parked next to their vehicle showed a no insurance/registration suspended alert on their license plate reader.

According to reports, after two or three minutes a man, identified as Tristan Green, approached the 2000 Volvo S40 and drove out of the parking lot onto Flat Shoals Road.

The officers pulled over the Volvo on Taunton Road. When approached by CPD, Green reportedly told an officer that he knew the tag was suspended and he had no insurance but he “just couldn’t take care of it right now.” According to reports, the officer could smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage, and asked Green to step out of the vehicle.
Green told officers he lived “just around the corner, I just want to go home.”

After being asked if he would conduct a few field sobriety tests he stated “my house is right down there.”

Green eventually agreed to the test. As an officer went to turn the emergency lights off in his vehicle Green told him he was going to urinate on the side of the road. According to reports, Green then swore toward the officers and reached his hand inside the waistband of his pants.

According to reports, at this gesture an officer drew his service weapon and ordered Green to remove his hand from his pants. Green refused twice. Fearing there was a weapon, the other officer grabbed Green from behind, manually assisting him to the ground and placing him in handcuffs.

Green then began screaming, “I just want to (urinate) on myself.” Green, who received a small abrasion on his right cheek, according to reports, was charged with disorderly conduct, suspended registration and no insurance.
