Car troubles lead to meth arrest

Deputies with the Newton County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Conyers man Dec. 6 and charged him with possession with intent to distribute methamphetamines.

According to the incident report, the Sheriff’s Office received a call that there was a suspicious vehicle in a subdivision under construction off Galloway Road. When the deputy arrived, Scot Lewis Pippin, who was under the hood of his car, said he was having car trouble and the car would not start.

When the deputy began to question the female passenger who was sitting in the car, he noticed a set of scales in the car. The deputy searched Pippin and found methamphetamines in his pocket.

Pippin was arrested and taken to Newton County Jail.
