Alcovy senior catcher Morgan Beshears will continue her softball career next season with the University of North Georgia.

Beshears officially committed to the Saints, signing her National Letter of Intent Wednesday afternoon at Alcovy High School in front of her coaches, family and teammates.

Beshears helped lead the Tigers to their second consecutive Region 2-AAAAAA title this season with a 23-10 overall record.

“I was very excited about getting to sign with North Georgia,” Beshears said. “I had a great senior season with my teammates, even though we lost out in the second round. I’d like to give thanks to all of my coaches, friends and family members for supporting me during my playing time here at Alcovy.”

At catcher for the Tigers this season, Beshears batted .311 with two home runs.

“She was a tremendous team leader and we are going to miss her next year,” Alcovy softball coach Russell Brock said. “She is going to be a great asset to the University of North Georgia and we wish her the best.”

Beshears, the daughter of Jenay and Kevin Beshears, was joined by her grandfather, Larry, and her younger sister, Lauren, and brother, Lawson.

“I’m really proud of the hard work she has put in over the years,” Kevin Beshears said. “All of her hard work and dedication has come to fruition."

Beshears was named to the all-region second team last year during her junior season.

Beshears will join a North Georgia program that went 16-14 overall last season, with a 16-6 mark in conference play.
The Saints reached the quarterfinals of the Peach Belt Conference Tournament before falling in the NCAA postseason Southeast Regional to Anderson University and Lenoir-Rhyne University.
