Lighting the way

We knew he was a great man when we featuring him as one of our 10 Men of Newton for 2008. Apparently many others know what a selfless, jovial person Flemmie Pitts is. Congratulations Mr. Pitts on being the honoree to light the Historic Courthouse in a special holiday tradition for Covington.
Pitts serves on the Board of Directors for the Northeast Georgia Regional Development, the Northeast Georgia Agency on Aging Advisory Board, Joint Partnership, Washington Street Community Center, Newton County Recreation Commission and the Newton County Cemetery Preservation Committee. He was instrumental in the building of Turner Lake Complex and Trail Blazer Park, helped established the Fun/Fitness Program (Scholarship for Needy Children) and is a lifetime member and Trustee Pro-Tem at Historic Graves Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church in east Newton County.
He is a wonderful asset to this community and we are proud to have him call Newton County home.
