Eastside junior Madison Whitsitt has been named the Eagles' Player of the Week.

After competing in seven games in five days, Eastside softball coach Jason Stokes had just one thing to say about his team's whirlwind schedule.

"We played a lot of games in a lot of days," Stokes said. "Madison competed hard in all of them."

For her efforts on the softball diamond last week, Eastside junior Madison Whitsitt has been named the Eagles' Player of the Week.

The Eagles' second baseman is known as one of the team's on-the-field leaders; a player who competes as hard as she can every game.

"She shows relentless hustle," Stokes said. "She does everything that the coaching staff asks her to do and you never have to ask her twice.

"She is one of the most coachable kids that I've had, and she'll do anything you need her to do to make the team better."

Whitsitt and the Eagles picked up a pair of wins last week. The Eagles defeated Chestatee 9-2 and Morgan County 8-6.

The Eagles hope to continue to improve as a team during the last month of the season, Whitsitt said.
"We want to become better players this year. We want to be better players and play better as a team," she said. "It's a team game, and we have to improve together."

When she's not on the diamond, Whitsett said, "I really like art. I'm in the Art Club."

Eastside continues its season on Thursday at home against Stephens. The regional contest will start at 5:30 p.m.

The softball team entered its Tuesday night contest with Lanier with a 3-3 regional record with just two regular season games regional games on the schedule.
