North Gwinnett leads the second week of the Georgia Class AAAAAA polls after posting an impressive 35-0 victory over Grayson on the road this past weekend.

North Gwinnett sits 2-0 on the season after opening the year with a 34-14 win over Camden County in the Georgia Dome on Aug. 24.

McEachern and Lowndes both move up in the polls to the No. 2 and No. 3 positions, respectively, after Colquitt County fell 24-10 to Hoover (Ala.) this past weekend. Lowndes earned a 42-2 win over Luella last Friday, surrendering only a safety in the 40-point victory.

Coming in at No. 4 in the state rankings this week is North Cobb, which ended the week with a 48-7 win over Starr’s Mill, while Colquitt County rounds out the top-5.

The rest of the state’s top-10 featured the same five programs as last week’s poll, but with some movement in the No. 6-No. 8 range.

Peachtree Ridge leaped over Norcross and Mill Creek in the poll, using a 28-14 win over Parkview to move to 2-0 on the season. The Lions earned an opening week victory over Walton at the Georgia Dome on Aug. 24, slipping past the Raiders 23-17.

Norcross and Mill Creek earned the No. 7 and No. 8 positions in the state poll this week, with Lovejoy (No. 9) and Marietta (No. 10) rounding out the final two spots.

Lovejoy, a Region 2 rival of Newton High and Alcovy, bested Mundy’s Hill in non-region play 41-12 this past Friday. Lovejoy will play the Rams and the Tigers in its final two games of the regular season.
