Ga. group awarded federal grant to help veterans

ATLANTA (AP) — The U.S. Department of Labor has announced that nearly $239,000 in grant funding has been allocated to an Atlanta nonprofit to help veterans with job training, job placement, housing and other services.

Officials from the U.S. Department of Labor Veterans' Employment and Training Service announced the Atlanta Center for Self Sufficiency was one of 121 groups to receive funding from a pot of about $29 million.

The money is expected to help veterans find stable footing in the job market, and was allocated through the Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program.

Officials expect about 14,000 veterans across the country to be served by the grant funding.
