Local graduates honored

Georgia Southern University in Statesboro recently recognized 1,150 students for excellence in academics, naming them to the 2013 spring semester president’s list. Eligible students had at least a 4.0 grade-point average and carried a minimum of 12 hours for the semester.

Among those honored were: senior Elizabeth Reich, an exercise major from Covington; sophomore David Van Leuven, a chemistry major from Covington; sophomore Taylor Watson, a pre-business major from Covington; senior Katelyn Yeomans, a mathematics major from Covington; senior James Kelly, a marketing major from Mansfield; senior Alexis Smith, a marketing/sales manager from Mansfield; sophomore Anais Macias, major undeclared, from Oxford; junior Annalee Ashley, a marketing major from Social Circle; and freshman Savannah Leclair, a pre-nursing/nursing major from Social Circle.

College graduates
Horace Johnson of Covington recently graduated from the College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, Va., with a bachelor’s degree. Founded by royal charter in 1693, William and Mary is the second oldest educational institution in the nation.

Victoria Partee of Covington was one of more than 750 graduates who received diplomas at Harding University’s spring commencement exercises. Partee received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the university in Searcy, Ark.
