The inaugural Henry Pilcher Volunteer of the Year Award was presented to Tom Brown at the Tuesday meeting of the Social Circle City Council.

He was recognized for his service to Better Home Town and the community. He has worked to make Social Circle a certified local government, helped to save the Celeste Dupree home, hosted a social event for National Preservation Month, and served as chairman of the design committee and HPC chairman for the city.

Also, Brown served on the Fourth of July Committee with Pilcher.

The volunteer award will be given annually to a community volunteer in memory of Pilcher, who was a BHT board member and plant manager at American Dehydrated Foods.

Henry Pilcher’s wife Syresa, assisted in the award presentation.

After the meeting, the council and BHT ambassadors had ice cream at Hot Rods.
