Threat prompts evacuations at 5 sites near Capitol

ATLANTA (AP) — Authorities say five state buildings near the Georgia Capitol were evacuated after a bomb threat.

Tracey Watson with the Georgia Department of Public Safety says a call came in around 9 a.m. Tuesday involving a threat against 47 Trinity Avenue, home to the Georgia Court of Appeals.

Watson says four other state buildings, including one that houses the attorney general and the Georgia Supreme Court, were evacuated due to their proximity. Two of the five buildings were cleared by 12 p.m. and employees were being allowed back in.

Watson says authorities followed standard procedure by evacuating the buildings and urging those in the area not to use radios or cellphones. Streets in the area were shut down.
