Our Thoughts... Funds for children

We appreciate the fact that Covington Police Chief Stacey Cotton asked the Covington City Council for permission to use seized drug money to assist in purchasing equipment for A Child's Voice, the child advocacy center which services the Alcovy Circuit - which includes Newton and Walton counties. We are equally pleased the council approved his request.
Childs Voice is designed to work with children who are believed to be victims of sexual and or physical abuse.
Unfortunately, this type of crime against our children is continuing at an alarming rate.
Cotton has committed $20,000 of the seized drug money to this program, because of this commitment and other donations from groups like the Kiwanis, instead of having our local children sent to Atlanta and traumatizing them even more, facilities will be built in Loganville to council them.
We can think of no better way to use seized drug money than to help the people hurt most by drug use, our children.
