Two Covington students graduated with honors recently from Columbus State University. They are Candice Lawrence, cum laude, with a bachelor’s degree in English language/creative writing; and Jessica Stanton, cum laude, with a bachelor’s degree in theater education.

Tiara Turner, of Covington was named to the dean’s list at Columbus State University. The pre-nursing major earned the distinction by completing the spring 2013 semester with at least 12 credit hours and a 3.6 or higher grade point average.

The following students were awarded degrees from Columbus State following the spring 2013 semester:

Dorothea Bailey-Butts of Covington, BSNC degree in RN to BSN; Vance Rosen of Jackson, MPA degree in justice administration; and Susan Weathersby of Covington, MPA degree in justice administration.

The following students were named to the 2012-13 president’s list at Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah:

Justin Farquhar, a junior economics major from Jackson; and Sharon Polite, a sophomore health science major from Covington. In order to make the president’s list, students must be enrolled in at least nine semester hours of course work and earn a 4.0 grade point average during two consecutive fall and spring semesters.

Donovan David Barrett, a 2011 graduate of Covington’s Eastside High School, has been named to the dean’s list at Mississippi State University. The communication/broadcasting major currently has a 3.5 grade point average.

At Benedictine College in Atchison, Kan., Bridget Collart of Covington was named to the president’s list for the spring semester. To earn that designation, students must carry a minimum of 12 credit hours and have a perfect 4.0 grade point average. Of the 1,716 undergraduate students on campus for the 2012-2013 academic year, 99 made the president’s list.

Lisa S. Allgood, of Covington was among a record number of graduate-degree recipients who took part in the University of Scranton’s recent post-baccalaureate commencement.

She received a master of science degree with a major in curriculum and instruction.
