A new pizza restaurant has opened up between Porterdale and Monticello offering traditional New York-style Italian food.

Anthony’s Pizza has been open for a little more than a month now. Owned and operated by the Lagano family, Anthony’s is named after the newest addition to the family.

"We’re Italians. We like to eat good pizza," said Ron Lagano, who with his wife, Maureen, hails from Long Island, N.Y.

The pizza at Anthony’s is cooked on a stone slab New York style, resulting in a crispy crust. The sauce is a special Lagano family secret, one that’s been in the family for 60 years.

"We make everything fresh," Lagano said, adding "We also make a great Philly cheese steak."

Lagano said the restaurant’s eggplant and chicken parmesan are also highly-recommended.

Pizza comes in 14-inch ($11.75), 16-inch ($12.75) and 18-inch ($14.25) sizes. Toppings are $1.50. Pizza is also served by the slice and is $2.25 a piece.

"We have all the standard toppings, Lagano said adding that there was no extra charge for premium toppings.

Anthony’s has meal specials on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays including specials on meatballs and spaghetti and chicken Marsala.

Italian dishes are $8 and include cheese ravioli, chicken parmesan and cheese manicotti and are served with garlic bread and salad. Calzones are also available for $5.95.

Sandwich offerings, on white or whole wheat bread, include Italian subs, turkey subs, tuna salad, chicken salad and grilled chicken.

Salads range in price from $3.50 and $7.50 and include a Greek salad with feta cheese and Greek olives, a buffalo chicken salad and a tuna salad.

Burgers, hot dogs, French fries, chili, chicken wings and soft serve ice cream are also sold.
