Obituary

 

      Mother Mattie Pearl Zanders was born inNewtonCounty, to the late Mr. Bennie Grier and Mrs. Hither Rose Grier on November 26, 1941. She was the second oldest of seven children which three preceded her in death; the late Bobbie Grier, Ruby Reynolds and Lonnie Grier. And is survived by Mr. & Mrs. Walter (Peggy) Grier, Deacon & Mrs. Eugene (Joanne) Grier and Mr. & Mrs. Calvin (Shedonna) Grier.

 

      In 1959, she married Mr. Jimmie Alex Zanders. To this union five children were born. While being a successful mother and a devoted wife, she worked forWestburyHealthcareCenteras a CNA as well as Pacific Uniform for many years.

 

      She attendedWashingtonStreetHigh School. She joinedBethlehemBaptistChurchat an early age, then later joinedOldPleasant HillBaptistChurchin 1964 where she was a faithful and loyal member of the Usher's Ministry and Mother's Board.

 

      She was called to rest on April 15, 2013. She leaves to cherish her memories, a devoted husband of 53 years, Mr. Jimmie Zanders, five children, Ms. Sandra Jackson, Mr. & Mrs. Kenneth (Beverly) Zanders, Ms.  Paula (Sean) Zanders, Mr. Aaron Zanders and Mr. & Mrs. Therrill (Tracy) Veal, four grandchildren, Keeli Zanders, Tiuna Jackson, Quintarius Jackson and Keion Veal, uncle and aunt, Deacon & Mrs. Eddie (Mary) Baker and Mrs. Ollie Kate Collins, In-laws, Mr. Waymond Zanders, Mr. & Mrs. James (Maurice) Usher, Mr. & Mrs. Samuel (Mae Lou) Hartsfield and Mr. & Mrs. Willie (Charlotte) Zanders  and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
