Master your weekend

/

My knowledge of golf is limited. I have played miniature golf, which I am no longer allowed to play because of a temper tantrum I threw once. I know more about the Tiger Woods’ meltdown, when his wife went off on his cheating behind, than I do about the traditions of what some consider the world’s greatest game.

However, working with a bunch of sports fanatics, all the talk these days is about the Masters.

The Masters I have been told is considered the start of the spring golfing season.  And while I have never been to the hallowed ground myself, it looks gorgeous and full of traditions and legacy, so what’s not to like?

But if you aren’t lucky enough to have pimento cheese and azaleas in Augusta with Bubba Watson that doesn’t mean you have to miss out on golf altogether.

We’ve got some lovely golf courses here in the east Metro area. You could try The Oaks or Ashton Hills. You might not get to see Tiger Woods, but you could have chicken salad and a Sweetwater. Conyers has Honey Creek, Highlands and Cherokee Run, while the Hard Labor Creek course in Rutledge is beautiful any time of year.

And if you’re like me, and don’t know the first thing about golf, head out to Indian Springs in Jackson. It’s a lovely state park and they have miniature golf there, along with a ton of other fun things to enjoy.

So don’t feel left out if you don’t make the Master’s list – create your own this weekend!
