Second arrest made in Silos shooting

/

Investigators have made a second arrest in the Jan. 27 shooting at a birthday party in The Silos subdivision.

David Farrow, 23, was initially arrested March 8 after being picked up by Newton County Sheriff’s deputies for firing his gun in The Silos between 7:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. Farrow initially gave deputies false information, according to NCSO investigator Michael Cunningham. A 9 mm gun fell out of his possessions when deputies made contact with him. The same type of weapon was used in the January shooting.

Farrow was placed in a lineup and identified as one of the shooters from the birthday party where two guests — a woman and a security guard hired to work the party — were shot and injured. He was charged with seven counts of cruelty to children, five counts of aggravated assault and one count of criminal damage to property in that case.

According to previous stories, the party was crashed by uninvited men. Although there was no immediate issue, some guests have told investigators that a verbal altercation ensued between the party crashers and the guests at the party. Shortly thereafter, the shooting occurred. A female guest was shot in the leg and a security guard hired for the party was shot in the arm.

Dandre Knowles, 21, was arrested in Miami in February and charged with six counts of aggravated assault, six counts of cruelty to children and one count of criminal damage to property. He was extradited back to Newton County on Feb. 22.

“This case is by no means closed,” Sheriff’s Deputy Cortney Morrison said. “It is still very much under investigation, but as of right now, no other warrants have been issued for anyone else.”
