Crime briefs: Don't leave your car alone

Two women were arrested and cited for disorderly conduct Saturday morning after a fight involving a car and an unpaid loan.

Officers were called to Puckett Street by Ketia Heard who said that Lashawn McKinney had stolen her 2005 burgundy Chevrolet Impala and was possibly heading toward Stone Mountain with it.

As officers were heading to Heard’s home, they received another call from her. She reportedly told them her car was at Raceway and that she and her mother had gotten into the car and started to drive off, when McKinney jumped on the vehicle. Officers could hear a female yelling at Heard to “Give me the money!” and “Get out of the truck!”

Witnesses contacted 911 to tell them that Heard attempted to drive off and McKinney and her 19-year-old daughter Keosha Brown jumped into her SUV and began fighting with her.

Officers deduced that Heard sold McKinney her vehicle for $2,000 down and that McKinney owed her $1,700 more. When the rest was not paid, Heard went and retrieved her vehicle. During the fight, Heard’s 7-year-old son was in the vehicle.

A woman scorned
A man’s angry ex-girlfriend reportedly vandalized a vehicle at the home he was staying at Sunday morning.

The man called deputies and said that he oftentimes stayed at his sister’s home on the weekends. He was there with his wife when they heard a knock on the door around 7 a.m. When he looked out the window, he saw a vehicle he had reportedly let his ex-girlfriend use.

He told deputies that while he didn’t open the door, he did watch his ex-girlfriend take a metal flower post holder and begin hitting a 2009 Chevrolet Impala that was parked in the driveway. The driver’s side rear and front fender, trunk lid, hood and tail light were all damaged, according to reports. The caller said the car belonged to a female friend who had parked her car there and caught a ride with someone else to a club.

A report was made for the owner of the vehicle.
