Power line down near Elks Club Road

High winds due to serve weather are causing some damage around the area.

Newton County Sheriff’s Deputy Cortney Morrison said a power line has fallen at Elks Club Road and said one car ran over the power line. Morrison said it wasn’t a major accident and that there were no injuries reported.

As of 3:30 p.m., Leigh-Anne Burgess, a Snapping Shoals EMC Communications Specialist, said Snapping Shoals had about 1,500 outages throughout their service territory and they were all wind related.

Those service areas include parts of Newton, Rockdale, Henry, DeKalb, Jasper, Morgan, Butts and Walton counties.
