Inappropriate rendezvous leads to fight

A fight broke out in the parking lot of Walmart Friday evening, after a man who was aggravated with an amorous couple, reportedly struck one of them.

When officers arrived, they were able to speak with both men: one, who was in a car attempting to leave; the other, who was waiting with the store manager. The man in the car, identified as Gilbert Gardner, reportedly had bloodshot eyes and appeared extremely intoxicated, according to reports. He told officers that the man standing with the manager at the front doors, identified as Andrew Perry, had hit him for no reason.

However, Perry had a different story. According to reports, he told officers that his girlfriend went into the restroom and when she came out, she was upset because Gardner and a female had entered the women's restroom and gone into a stall together. He said he waited by the bathroom and when Gardner and the female walked out, Perry questioned him about being inside the women's restroom.

According to Perry, Gardner laughed at him and then pushed his shoulder and mumbled something. He admitted to following Gardner and his girlfriend to the front of the store and exchanging words with him. Perry said when they left the store, he pushed a shopping cart into Gardner, and when Gardner turned, Perry struck him in the face because it appeared Gardner was coming at him.

Gardner eventually told officers that he had been drinking a lot prior to coming to Walmart, and that he and his girlfriend, along with some other friends, had just been hanging out in the store. He admitted to going into the bathroom with her after a bit of "hanging over" her and "touching all over her."

Perry, Gardner and Gardner's girlfriend were all issued criminal trespass warnings from Walmart. Gardner was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.

Dog fights in parking lot
Three people were arrested after they and their dogs were fighting late Saturday night at the Covington Lodge.

While on the way there, dispatch told officers that there were several people fighting in the parking lot. When officers arrived, they went to a room where the manager said one of the fighters was located.
