Our different worldviews

Everyone has a worldview. No matter who you are, no matter where you are from, no matter how you were raised, you have a distinct worldview. What is a worldview you may be thinking? A worldview is your orientation to the world, your perspective, or the viewpoint from which you engage the world. Some claim that they only consider the evidence, or "just the facts" in a particular situation, but that is never true. Everyone, no matter who you are looks at that evidence and considers those facts from a particular point of view.

Now you may be thinking why is this important? Well, this is incredibly important. Until you understand your worldview, you will never fully understand why you think the way that you do and why you believe what you believe. More importantly, since your worldview in large part defines who you are and what you value, you want to make sure that your worldview is governed by forces that are stable and true.

There are many governing forces in the world that determine an individual's worldview. I know people who come from a humanistic worldview perspective, an Islamic worldview perspective, a moralistic worldview perspective, etc. I view the world from a biblical worldview perspective, meaning that I believe the Bible is the authority in determining what is true and right and valuable. My worldview isn't defined by man's understanding of the world that he lives in, but rather it is defined by God's revelation of what is true.

You have a worldview, and that worldview can either be defined by your fellow man and his discoveries, which are considered as true one year and then proven to be faulty the next, or your worldview can be defined by the eternal God and his eternal word. My prayer is that you would submit to God, through Jesus, that you would trust in him as the savior and Lord of your life and that your view of the world would be set right by his truth.
