Schulz wins re-election for BOC Dist. 3

Democrat Nancy Schulz won her re-election bid as the District 3 Board of Commissioner, capturing 6,399 votes to Republican challenger Kevin Wade's 2,666 votes.

"I'm so excited and so thrilled. I have this incredible group of people who are a part of District 3 and I'm just so excited to serve another four years with them," Schulz said. "I think we've formed a really good working relationship and I really believe they feel like they have been part of the solution and that's what they want. They want their voices to be heard and they want to be part of figuring out how to move this county forward together. They've got great ideas and I certainly wouldn't come up with those ideas on my own."

Schulz is the controller of The Oaks Golf Course, which she and her husband Dick, have owned since the early 1990s. She is also a graduate from the University of Tennessee with a bachelor's degree in nursing and earned her master's degree in nursing from Vanderbilt University.

Wade, a native of Brooks County, moved to Newton in 2006 to accept a position as a senior analyst for Delta. He also ran for the District 3 school board seat in 2010.
