Newton’s Hunt has big day in Purdue’s win

Here's a weekly look at Covington's former prep stars now in college:

Akeem Hunt, Newton - Hunt ran for 106 yards and a touchdown on four carries, and scored a 50-yard touchdown on his only catch in Purdue's 54-16 win over Marshall on Saturday.
His 50-yard touchdown pass from Caleb TerBush to make it 20-9. Then early in the third quarter, Hunt broke loose for a 56-yard scoring run to make it 40-9.

D.J. Hill, Newton -Hill had one tackle for Virginia in its 56-20 loss at Georgia Tech Saturday.

Devon Mann, Newton - Mann had Morehouse's longest touchdown catch of the day, grabbing a 57-yard strike from Donnay Ragland over his shoulder, streaking down the sideline Saturday.
Mann finished with two catches for 59 yards in a 55-21 win over Winston-Salem State.

Jordan Ritchey, Eastside - Ritchey, a starting center, and West Georgia picked up its first loss of the season Saturday, falling to Miles College 44-37.
The Wolves were 38 for 172 rushing and saw its quarterback sacked once.

Anderico Bailey, Eastside - Bailey had one catch for 10 yards as Presbyterian lost its second straight, to Football Bowl Series team, 58-0 to Vanderbilt Saturday.

Antarius Terrell, Eastside - Terrell had two solo tackles for Presbyterian Saturday.

Zac Johnson, Eastside - Johnson had five solo and three assisted tackles to be one of three leaders in total tackles for Charleston Southern on Saturday. Johnson also had one tackle for a loss of two yards in a 44-0 loss to FBS Illinois on Saturday.

Soccer
Trent Taylor, Eastside - The former Eastside standout scored Truett-McConnell's game-winner in overtime as the Bears defeated Covenant College 1-0 Monday.
