Meet and greet to be held for all candidates

A meet and greet for political candidates will take place from 4-7 p.m., July 15 at Prospect United Methodist Church.

All candidates running for U.S. representative, state senate, state representative, board of commissioners, county coroner, sheriff, county chairman and board of education are invited to come.

Each candidate will have five minutes to introduce themselves and talk about their platform. All participants will then convene downstairs for refreshments, and residents will have the opportunity to talk with the candidates.

County commissioner Lanier Sims, who is not running for office, planned the meet and greet to allow residents who do not live by the city and were not yet able to attend political forums to have the chance to get to know the candidates for upcoming elections.

"I want citizens to get the chance to see the candidates and get to know them better," Sims said.

The meet and greet is a continuation of the monthly or quarterly town hall meetings Sims holds.
