Newton County Republican Party District 5 forum, 7 p.m., at the Covington Women’s Club, 1116 College Ave. SE, located behind Amici's Italian Café.

The four Republican candidates for the District 5 board of commissioners seat will give introductions and be asked questions by the audience.

JULY 18 WEDNESDAY

Smart Growth Newton County

7 p.m., July 18 at Washington Street Community Center. Candidates for county chairman, board of commissioners and board of education will give an introduction and respond to questions they’ve been given ahead of time.
