Forum Reminder

Many good people are running for election this year, putting themselves out in the public eye in the hope that voters will go to the polls July 31, or during early voting, and cast a ballot in support.

Some of these candidates are working hard to encourage you to put your trust in their leadership abilities.

Others have done very little besides put up signs and may be banking on people remaining uninformed about the issues in their community and simply voting for a name or not show up to vote at all.

Tomorrow, The Covington News and The Covington-Newton County Chamber of Commerce are offering voters the opportunity to hear candidates' responses to questions that matter.

We invite you to come to The Center for Community Preservation and Planning, 2104 Washington St., from 6 to 9 p.m. to meet all county candidates who will be facing opposition in the primary and see what they have to offer in the way of leadership.

If there's one thing we need from elected officials, it's leadership and the ability to make rational decisions. We need leaders who will wisely guide us in the right direction, and bring us out of both the economic quagmire and malaise of non-action. Come out and learn about the issues and send us any questions you have for the candidates to news@covnews.com.
