Richards finishes stellar career

Brandi Richards finished her softball career in decorated fashion, as she completed her senior season at the Auburn Montgomery University.

Richards, a former Eastside standout, earned All-American honors from the NAIA for the fourth time in her career. The pitcher/outfielder garnered first team honors after being named honorable mention as a freshman, first-team honors as a sophomore and second-team honors as a sophomore.

During her final season, Richards tallied a .312 batting average, with three home runs and 28 runs batted in.

Selected one of four at-large members to the team, she tallied eight doubles and four triples, while stealing a career-best nine bases. The former Eagle had 13 multiple-hit games and a team-leading nine multiple-RBI games. In the pitching circle, she posted a 16-10 record with a 1.17 earned run average. She struck out 250 hitters in 174 innings, while limiting opponents to only a .157 batting average.

Among the many accolades Richards received while with the Warhawks are All-American, All-Region and All-Conference honors.

She was named Southern States Pitcher of the Year in her freshman and sophomore years, Divisional Player of the Year in her junior and senior years, and was named to the All-Conference team all four years.

Richards was named to the NAIA National All-Tournament team this season, along with the NFCA All-Region team. It was her second appearance on the All-Region team during her freshman and sophomore years.

Richards helped lead the Warhawks to a 42-20 slate, a school record for victories, while making their first appearance in the NAIA National Tournament. The Warhawks finished the tournament 4-2 and won Pool H in pool play.
