Abiding Grace receives two summer volunteers

Vacations, beaches, friends and family are all the elements for a fun, relaxing, and enjoyable summer. However, two students from Martin Luther College, New Ulm, Minn. have chosen to dedicate their summer to support Abiding Grace Lutheran Church. Noah Willitz and Kyle Heise are both studying to become pastors. They will start their third year of college this coming fall. They are zealous for this opportunity to serve the people of the Covington area. This experience will aid in their future ministries. "I am really excited to be able to work in a growing community such as Covington, and to be able to invite a large number of people to Abiding Grace," said Willitz.

The two men will be helping out with the church's Vacation Bible School, from June 25-29. "I am pumped to be able to help kids get excited about the week. The ‘Amazing Desert Journey' is a great theme and I really think that the children will have a great time, as well as learn about their Savior," said Willitz. Every day of the week will involve games, crafts, singing, snacks and of course Bible lessons that apply to the children's lives.

In addition, the students from MLC will help out with Abiding Grace's soccer camp, from July 16-20. The students are also a little nervous. "I really hope I am able to get used to this heat before we start soccer. Wisconsin summers usually don't get this intense," said Heise. This is yet another opportunity for the children to get together, have fun, and learn not only some soccer skills but also about Jesus Christ. The children also will be able to take home and keep a T-shirt and a soccer ball.

Willitz and Heise are volunteering through WELS Kingdom Workers. Through this foundation they are able to serve at Abiding Grace for ten weeks. During the week they will be doing some door-to-door canvassing, inviting people to come to church. "I am eager to find people that are looking for a church to call their own," said Heise. Abiding Grace holds services at 10:30 a.m. every Sunday. In addition, we also have Bible classes and Sunday school. The doors are open to everyone.
